Concordance entry

Magus

The fifth-degree senior office in the Temple of Set, conventionally held by a small number of individuals who have demonstrated that their work has produced a substantive change in the larger occult field. In the broader esoteric tradition the term derives from the Magi of late antiquity and has been used by other orders — including Crowley’s A∴A∴ — for analogous senior grades. The position carries doctrinal and structural authority within its order and is not retired except by death.
