False Memory Syndrome Foundation
An American advocacy organisation founded in 1992 by Peter and Pamela Freyd in the wake of their daughter Jennifer Freyd’s accusation that Peter had abused her. The Foundation positioned itself as a scientific clearinghouse against recovered-memory testimony and was instrumental in the professional reversal of recovered-memory therapy during the 1990s. Its scientific advisory board included researchers whose institutional histories ran through MKULTRA-era CIA-funded behavioural-modification research. The Foundation closed in 2019; the rhetorical infrastructure it constructed persists through successor organisations.
