Paradigm shift

In chaos-magic practice, the deliberate temporary adoption of a religious, mythological, or cultural belief system for the duration of a magical working, after which the system is set aside again. The technique treats cosmologies as instrumental working tools rather than as competing claims about reality, and is the central methodological innovation of chaos magick. The position is associated with Peter J. Carroll’s foundational chaos-magic texts Liber Null (1978) and Psychonaut (1981).
